Community Partner: Morinville Public School

For the last three years the parents of Morinville Public School's Parent Fundraising Association have acted as the hosts of the MPS Children's Carnival. At the same time they worked tirelessly to raise $165,000 (!!!) in just two and a half years to construct the Mornville Public School Community Playground. The MPES PFA is ecstatic to announce that construction of the playground is a GO with ground breaking mid July 2015!! The same support and community spirit that ensures the success of Carnival is that which is building this much needed playground which will include specialized equipment for children with sensory disabilities such as autism, a first in the community. To learn more about the school community visit morinvillepublic.ca or read up on the playground here.

Toddler Zone

Did you know Carnival has a special place just for our littlest friends? Yuuuup! A bouncy castle just for them, toddler friendly activities, AND early education experts on hand to talk about everything from motor and language skills, to behavior and eating habits. We absolutely LOVE these ladies at Morinville Public School and we're so glad they're going us for third year in a  row!

*new* Community Partner: Citie Ballet

"Citie Ballet is so excited to be a part of the MPS Children’s Carnival! We love being an active part of our community — whether by inviting artists to collaborate with our performances, talking with our fans, or doing what we do best: dancing for audiences who love ballet as much as we do. And the Carnival has always been a great community event, helping organizations and the community they serve come together.

And it’s going to be a busy summer for us! The following weekend; on Saturday, June 27th and Sunday, June 28th; we’ll be hosting our annual Citie Home Tour, where six fabulous homes with inspired interiors are opened to the public. If you’d like to know more about this event, visit the CitieHomeTour.ca."

Community Partner: FASD Network

We are proud to support the Alberta FASD Network at Carnival 2015. FASD is: "Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) is a preventable, lifelong disability resulting from prenatal exposure to alcohol that has no cure. Addressing FASD is a complex, multidimensional social and public health issue. FASD is the umbrella term used to describe a range of disabilities that may include physical birth defects and health problems including developmental delays, learning disabilities, memory problems, as well as difficulties in communicating feelings and understanding consequences."

The network provides:
  • awareness and prevention
  • assessment and diagnosis
  • supports and services for individuals with FASD and their caregivers

Community Partner: Edmonton Twin & Triplet Club

New to Carnival this year is the Edmonton Twin & Triplet Club! From their website:

"Expecting multiples is a unique experience. It can bring both joys and concerns. We understand your situation because we’ve been there. We have twins or triplets, and sometimes older and younger siblings too. We know you have questions for someone who has been there before you."

Carnival 2015: Movin' up in the world...

By now you've probably heard about the partnership between Morinville's St. Jean Baptiste Festival and the MPS Children's Carnival. But aside from  making friends (always a good thing!) what does this mean?! If you're a Carnival goer it means a LOT of benefits! It means that we are now bringing you TWO full days of FREE carnival actvities. It means that we now have a roof over our heads which means children's activities will be a go, rain or shine (no more having to head home when it starts raining on the midway!) It means that we can dedicate more time and energy to sponsoring MORE community groups (14 so far). And it means that two of our community's most successful events can combine their respective volunteer forces and skills. In case you couldn't tell, we're excited and proud to be partnering with the Morinville Festival Society, and we can't wait to SHOW you why!
