1 Day to Carnival: AMAZING Raffle!

Well, tomorrow's the big day!  One of the highlights is definitely going to be our phenomenal raffle.  All proceeds go directly towards the Playground Fund (you can learn all about the new plans here).  Tickets will be available through our many volunteers on the grounds, and at the Welcome Booth throughout the event.  Tickets are all $5 with the exception of the Grand Prize, for which tickets are $10.  An ATM will be available onsite for your convenience.

We are happy  to be joining forces with Fort Radio to promote Carnival as well as provide sound for the whole event.  This is a terrific contribution, and one that ranks Fort Radio as one of our Diamond Sponsors!  Thanks a ton, and we'll see you at your booth at the Carnival!

2 Days to Carnival: DRAGONS!

Wondering where to find Carnival?  Just keep an eye out for the two massive dragons hanging out on our grounds!  This year will feature two huge dragon inflatables, PLUS an extra inflatable play zone just for our littlest guests!  After you manage to pull the kidlets away from all of that, swing by the Carnival games hosted by our friends at the Morinville Community Library, the Sunflower Community Resource Program, and the G.I.R.L.S & B.O.Y.S. groups!  They'll all have terrific old school games, completely FREE!!

3 Days to Carnival: Ninjas and Derby Girls!

After you've learned all about the exotic animals at the Zoo 2 U pavilion, make sure you stop and say hi to the folks from Rooke Karate, who'll be on hand.  And speaking of folks that kick butt, girlies from the Sturgeon County Junior Roller Derby Association will be up and rolling around the grounds!  A day with karate AND roller derby girls is bound to be AWESOME!

Welcoming our Military Families to Carnival

Morinville, Sturgeon County, and the Edmonton area at large are home to hundreds if not thousands of Canadian military members and their families and we are proud to welcome them all to the Community Carnival.  The Edmonton Garrison Military Family Resource Centre will be on hand with crafts, swag, and info, too!  Thank you for all you do, from all of us at the MPES Community Carnival.

The Dragons Nest Game brought to you by Home Hardware

This year the Carnival committee has taken on the monumental task of building all of the events games.  We have placed a strong emphasis on recycled and reused materials, and creating games that can be used by the community for years to come instead of being disposable.  One of these initiatives is our Dragon's Nest game, in partnership with Morinville Hardware-Bumper to Bumper.  The game is being constructed almost entirely with materials that would otherwise end up in the dump, but at Carnival will be a wonderful digging game for the kids, chock full of "dragon's eggs".  Thank you for your support, Home Hardware!

4 Days to Carnival: Amazing Artists & Library

Carnival is all about being different and thinking BIG which is how we've ended up joining forces with Scott from Bear's Skin Art & Tattoo, as well as local artists to do our face painting this year!  We're SO excited to get another chance to expose the kids to new art forms, and to see what these great artists can do!  They're doing this all as volunteers, so make sure to give 'em a big ol' high five.

After the kids are all painted up, make sure to go next door to Morinville Ringette's shooting gallery!  They'll be there to answer questions about this brand new league!

Where there are Dragons (and BOY are there going to be some Dragons!) you're bound to see Knights in shining armour and their ladies, and Carnival's no exception! *BRAND NEW* for this year,  we have a traveling medieval troupe coming out to entertain the masses!

6 Days to Carnival: Toddler Zone Extravaganza!

One of the great parts of Carnival is our Toddler Zone.  Designed with kidlets from 1-5 in mind, the Toddler Zone features a HUGE colouring wall, a bouncy house just for the little guys (no getting squashed by the big kids), educational games and activities, plus early childhood education experts on hand to answer all your questions!  Experts from both SSD Early Childhood Education and the Early Childhood Development Initiative will be helping out.

8 Days to Carnival: Photo Booth and the Jessica Martel Memorial Foundation

Just over a week left, so you've got lots of time to charge up your cell phone, or figure out where your batteries are for your camera... cause it's time for Photo Booth, kids!  We're bringing back our popular self-serve Carnival-themed photo booth again this year.  Loaded up with a fun Carnival backdrop and packed full of hilarious props to make your pics epic!  Make sure to stop by to capture your day and don't forget to hashtag your  Instagram pics with #MPESCommunityCarnival!

After you finishing hashtagging all your awesome pics, wander on over to hang out with the ladies from the Jessica Martel Memorial Foundation to try your hand at some Medieval Putt Putt!  They will have plenty of info on hand about this wonderful local organization that works towards preventing and educating about domestic abuse.  They will also be accepting registrations for their annual 5k.  Play a little mini golf and support a great cause at the same time; we're all about balance!

9 Days to Carnival: So. Many. FREE. Games!

It's official, we're less than ten days away from Carnival! So it's time to start letting you know about all the great reasons you NEED to be there! First you'll need to check out our old school Carnival games. All of the games are completely free, and fun for all ages!

This AMAZING Dragon Toss game was handpainted by local artist Sarah Hall!

You can find that amazing game over by Morinville Public School's Principal, Mr Wayne Rufiange.  Not only has the school generously provided their grounds for the Carnival but, rumour has it they're also going to be handing out FREE popcorn!  GO DRAGONS!!! 

While you're at it, if you get a chance, make sure to touch base with our lovely rep from Big Brothers Big Sisters who will be out working hard selling raffle tickets!
